Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Women's participation in politics remains a critical issue in Nigeria, where cultural, social, and economic factors often limit women's involvement in political processes. Indigenous language broadcasting, which provides information and communication in local languages, has the potential to bridge the gap between women and political participation. In Malumfashi Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State, indigenous language radio programs are widely listened to, making them an important tool for influencing women's political engagement. This study seeks to examine how indigenous language broadcasting influences women's participation in politics in Malumfashi LGA.
